Caroline Syrett Physiotherapist

BSc Physio (WITS)

Caroline obtained her Physiotherapy Honours Degree with distinction from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2003 and initially worked in private practice at Wilgeheuwel hospital. She gained extensive experience in treating back and neck conditions, shoulder dysfunction, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal and post-surgical rehabilitation. Caroline also worked as the Physio to the South African squash team during that time. In 2007 she opened her own practice in Kenmare and in 2016 expanded the practice to her home in Randpark Ridge.

Caroline’s key areas of practice are persistent pain, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, postural re-education and the sportsperson. I have a passion for the young athlete and believe that assessment and management at an early age is extremely important.

Caroline is currently the Chairperson of the Pain Management Physiotherapy Group and is completing her Masters in Chronic Pain.

After seeing a need for the correction of lower limb biomechanics in many individuals, she attained a qualification in the fitment of orthotics. Another modality that Caroline finds very beneficial is Kinesio taping, which goes a long way to facilitating and maintaining various bio mechanical and postural adjustments. She also offers Pilates-based exercise classes for small groups online.

I favor a hands on approach comprising of education and manual therapy techniques and believe strongly in the prescription of home exercises as an adjunct to treatment.
